Hello....thanks to all your wonderful codes and posts I've purchased many nice things to stash away for Christmas. As I get ready to place the last of my "code" orders, can anyone give me a review of Sam's Ice Cream Freezer?
Thanks!

Sam and Addy have the same ice cream freezer. I tried using it to make ice cream once, using the recipe, and nothing much happened. It's a good prop for a photo but would be frustrating if a child really expected to use it for making ice cream. And after all the work, you would get less than a tablespoon of ice cream anyway.

Thanks for the review Cherry We got Addy's Ice Cream Freezer in about a month ago, but it feel apart when we got it out of the box. I keep forgetting to get my DH to look at it. I was curious as to the amount of ice cream it makes.

I happen to LOVE this item, LOL.
It's beautifully and solidly made. It really cranks. We have not tried to make ice cream in it, and appreciate hearing about that, but I think it still might be fun to do one day if we were making a big batch by another method. You can also make ice cream in a baggie - we did that once before we got this. I also have a case of one serving churns with recipe books stashed away for an ice cream social this summer. I think we'll invite a bunch of girls to the pool and have them bring their dolls so they can make ice cream too.
About it falling apart, Kim; that happened to me too - I felt a big Uh-oh! like It was really broken, but it isn't. The real ones do the same thing - you take them apart to put the ingredients in, and then put it back together to use. It's pretty logical - just look at it and see if you can get the pieces to fit.
I give this churn

I think it is very nice. It is really made of wood and has lots of parts. There is a metal tub inside with a lid and a crank and then a wooden piece to insert at the top of the wooden barrel to hold the crank in place. It really works! Well, I don't know about making ice cream in it, but it does come with the recipe.
It is a little high priced, but if we didn't have one, I would definately put it on my list.

But are the new one's wood or plastic? I've read conflicting posts. I was under the assumption that the new one's are plastic. If it was definitly wood, then I might just get it too....but if it's plastic, I'll have to think about it more. Thanks.

I had read the same reviews about the freezer being made of plastic. Ours is definitely wood. Whether that was because the new ones really are wood or whether that is because we got one of the older stock who knows.
Posie, I really should get the maker out. DH is the engineer, though, so it is just easier to get him to look at it It also gets him interested in our toys.

Ours is wood. Got it two weeks ago. I'd say it's FUN even if just to demonstrate what people used to have to go through to get something we take for granted now!
My 2 cents

Ok...just called CS. The rep read the cleaning instructions to me and it said hand wash metal and dry wood parts with cloth. So I guess it is wood!
So I guess that's TWO last code orders for me. Already ordered Sam's party treats, going back to get this.
Thanks everyone!
